Visiting music professor Matias Homar to perform at UB-hosted conference on guitars

Matias Homar, visiting assistant professor of music at Alfred University, will give an interactive performance for electric guitar during an international conference on guitars being held this weekend at the University at Buffalo.

Homar’s performance, titled “Vidala,” will be given Saturday, Sept. 28, during “Music, Migration, and the Guitar,” the 2024 International Guitar Research Conference. The two-day conference is being held Sept. 28-29 at UB’s North Campus.

Homar said that as a composer from Argentina, the conference offers him an opportunity to share a piece of music that intersects art, science, and innovation. Vidala for electric guitar and live sound processing is inspired by traditional music from the northwest region of Argentina.
